Hello Wolflings! I hope that the beginning of this final month has reached you well. December is always (at least in my mind) a month of contrasts. It is a time to recharge, refill ourselves with time, slumber, and some good food. However, this is also the time when we need to be the most vigilant. The things in our lives need tending too if we wish to start the new year with a positive set of intentions. I feel that this time of year is full of vibrations and unseen pushes that call into the deep structures of our bones. Our foundations will either be elated with jubious cheer or brim with recollections of what has passed and desire to move beyond our limits.
December is ambivalence. Both the light and darkness come into play, sometimes drawing the energetic art high into the walls of our weaving days. One thing that is certain is that the year is ending. The curtains are slowly closing in, leaving us to reflect on what has been lost or attained in this year-long dance. This is time to look to karma and new energy to bring in. There is a bounty of energy that has followed us like an obedient dog throughout the year and now, with the end in reach, we can look to what we wish to outgrow, change, or what needs some new breath.
The Phoenix brings some much-needed energy to our ending year. The Phoenix, as I am sure everyone knows, speaks to transformations and rising from our dusty ashes. The Phoenix is the surge from the pit, the fist flying in faith that it will subdue or neutralize. With the Phoenix, we have a chance to change the karma and start to manifest a beauty that rises in us, through us, and because of us. The dying days December unfold like fog to heat, releasing any past resentments or fears.
Use the Phoenix to start your transformation. Unfold yourself into a new body. Become more aligned with what your conscious mind is calling for. Find that beauty in yourself. We cannot be stewards for progressive, social, or greater change until we honor what needs to be released in us. Kim Krans notes that the Phoenix resides in the root chakra. This transformation may not be easy. It will take the blood of the Spirit to start such a shift, but now is the time. Now is the time to change our own karmas, and remind our own bodies that we cannot be ruled by fear or by messy words. We were made to be drunk on starlight. We were made in fire and blood.
This transformation is the catalyst for where we place ourselves in the new year. This is where Fernia comes in. Fernia is the untamed, but often overlooked, energy in us. Fernia speaks to expectations and needs. When the foliage becomes overgrown, there are those who seek to push it back. There will be those who find no inspiration because it is not colorful and petal-soft. Fernia is the energy in us that is neither overtly beautiful or outward-bound. This is the energy that thrives in the quiet shade of our silence. This is the energy that is ours, and for those who appreciate our quieter selves. This energy speaks to being comfortable in our individual outlines. It is not meant to please others.
As the end of the month draws in, use Fernia to find the energy that is yours. If others love it, beautiful. But do not bypass your sacred space that is off the beaten path because others find it unattainable. Connect to what in you needs to grow and thrive, and nurture it. Tap into what needs to die so that something else can claim the ground and grow.
December clicks to a close, and these two energies are the start of pulling away from the threads that snag on our heartbeats and our rhythmic emotions. The Phoenix is the reckoning, the call deep in the bones to rise to new potentials. Fernia is the aftermath, the tending to that potential because it can be a beautiful garden. The growth may not be to everyone’s liking, but our karma is the first-born. Our karma is the love that from us can be given to others who choose to walk that path, sit in the same, cool shade. This transformation will cleanse and shake our bodies into something shiny and ready. We will not need to don all the armor because we have strengthened something much bigger. We have shed the weight of what did not serve our fight. For the new year, we do not need to fear the flames because we are the tinder. We do not strive to be flowers because we are an endless jungle.
